Our first machine vision board, shown on this page, was designed for the bakery industry and affords an economical solution to a difficult machine vision problem. This 10cm by 10cm AMV1 board uses a Cypress CPLD for fast pipelined video operations, a Sumitomo C201 for real time 7 by 7 kernel spatial convolutions, and a 50 MHz Cygnal microprocessor for user interface and board housekeeping tasks. The AMV1 board outputs directly to an NTSC video monitor and a digital output signals the manufacturing automation. There is no computer involved.
